Want to be part of something BIG? Hertfordshire County Council’s Countryside and Rights of Way Service is attempting to set a new record for the greatest number of Health Walkers out walking, on Monday May 14th with the 3rd annual Mass Health Walk. And what better time to set this challenge than during Hertfordshire’s Year of Physical Activity and National Walking Month.
The Hertfordshire Health Walks initiative offers over 60 walks per week across the county, helping residents to meet the target of 150 minutes exercise per week as recommended by the UK’s Chief Medical Officers. The walks are free, local, short and led by trained volunteers.
2018 has been designated the ‘Hertfordshire Year of Physical Activity’ and will see a number of organisations working together in support of making Hertfordshire the most active county. May’s physical activity theme is walking and throughout the day on May 14th there will be a bumper offering of over 25 Health Walks taking place across Hertfordshire. So whether you’re already a seasoned Health Walker or fancy trying it for the first time there are plenty of opportunities to get active and help break a Hertfordshire Health Walks record. The number to beat is 630 walkers, set on the Mass Health Walk day in 2015!
