Lace up your trainers and head down to Oakmere Park to play on the first interactive sports court in the country!

The multi-purpose sports court has four goals and is controlled through a game console. It takes all the best elements of outdoor team sports but adds a new dimension. Impact-sensitive panels measure and react to the ball, and the vivid LED lights and audio speakers give players feedback and encouragement on their performance.

The interactive sports court is as entertaining as video games, yet fun, healthy and socially constructive just like outdoor play.   With five games to choose from, even regular users of the interactive sports court won’t get bored. It’s aimed at young people in junior school and upwards, so grab your parents, carers, grandparents or friends and head down to the park!

The interactive sports court was funded by Section 106 money – which is money given to the council through the planning process for local development.

As well as the interactive football court, we have also installed a new Crusader rope swing, which gives people of all ages the challenge of standing or sitting to create the swing motion. This will be opened in mid-November once the safety surface has been fitted.

The equipment is modern, which will hopefully entice more young people to our local parks to use the wonderful facilities that are on offer.
